Mavericks: Proving Grounds Revealed.
So, for a long time now the news of a game featuring 400 pvp battle royale mode codenamed Project X had been going around. Finally, we got some more details about this game which will be called Mavericks: Proving Grounds. The details were shared during PC Gamer Weekenders Live Stream by the developer, Automaton.
So what we have come to know at the moment is that the game will be having 2 launch stages. The first one that’ll be launching this year will be featuring 400 PvP battle royale matches on an enormous map having a diameter of 16Km which is surely pretty massive as compared to 8km x 8km PUBG Map. The game will be having a closed beta this Summer. And next year in 2019, we’ll be having a game getting expanded to an enormous 1000 players count with the RPG elements. This all has been made possible by the new SpatialOS that we already discussed in our last post about Project X. So, SpatialOS is actually a cloud-based technology that helps the developers to exceed the power of a single game engine by running the game in the cloud.
So far the Mavericks Proving Grounds sounds pretty good and will surely create hype as it’ll be offering 4x more than what the current Battle Royale games mostly offer. Bigger map, more players and as the devs say more realistic. It’s obvious that this game will be giving a tough competition to PUBG and Fortnite for these games are the most played battle royale games at the moment and might even be crowned as the best battle royale game. But still much can’t be said until we get to see the closed beta which is due this summer. I personally love bigger maps and more realistic gameplay but more players mean longer matches and longer wait times. Here is a teaser trailer that Automaton revealed.
James Thompson from Automaton explains a bit more about their upcoming title Mavericks Proving Grounds along with a few details about this new technology called SpatialOS and how it works.
