Artifact – The Dota Card Game.
During this years Internation Dota 2 tournament, Valve announced a new game called Artifact. The game is called The Dota Card Game by Valve. It was announced during the live stream of Dota 2 TI 2017. The tournament is still on going in Seattle. Looks like Valve couldn’t wait until the end of the tournament.
A lot of debates are going on and many speculations are being made about the gameplay of Artifact. However, The Internation 2017 host “Day9” gave a tiny bit of description about the game. Here’s the description of the game in words of Polygon’s Arthur Gies.
Artifact is a card game based on Dota 2 involving three boards and a selection of characters from Valve’s flagship game, though other details remain light. The game was announced just before the final match of Day 2 of TI7 by event host Sean “Day9” Plott, who gave a vague description of the game that seemed to indicate it would involve building barracks, creeps, and lanes (after suggesting the announcement was not related to Dota 2). Comparisons to Blizzard’s Hearthstone seem inevitable.
Dota is one of the most addictive game in the world. Millions of people play this game. We will have to wait until Valve releases some screenshots of the game or maybe a little gameplay. Valve might reveal more about the game at the end of the tournament. However, Artifact’s twitter Account is up now and already has almost 15k Followers. This also might be the first game by Valve to be released on Smartphone but as I said these are just speculations and we can’t confirm anything until we get to hear officially from any of Valve’s employee.
