New Game Codenamed Project X To Offer 400-Player PvP.
For a long time, it has been all about Player Unknown’s Battleground that just came and started ruling the online gaming world. Beating Dota 2 and CS GO it became the most played game on Steam. PUBG offers 100 players PvP on a huge 8km x 8km battleground.
But wait. Could this be the end of PUBG hype? A new mysterious game codenamed Project X (that’s what it is being called) is being worked on at UK studio Automaton.
What’s so crazy about this game? This Project X allows 1000 concurrent players in a single huge world. What’s even more interesting is that the game offers 400-Player Battle Royale on a huge 12km x 12km map. As confirmed by Automatom “an additional last-man standing Player vs Player arena combat mode, with up to 400 players in direct combat.” This is where problems could start up for PUBG. A game offering 4x more than what PUBG offers. But surely with 400 players, the game would be much longer.
It seems like the companies are now working their butts off to make the best Battle Royale game. Since Epic Games announced a free Fortnite Battle Royale mode they have reached more than 7 million players while on the first day they had a start of 1 Million players. According to Eurogamer in Project X “There’s destruction, roaming wildlife, dynamic weather, foliage displacement, tracks, blood trails, fire and water. Also intended is character progression, social hubs and a “global-scale player-driven narrative”.
This is all made possible thanks to SpatialOS. It is a cloud-based technology that helps the developers to exceed the power of a single game engine by running the game in the cloud.
Project X is rumoured to be released anytime in 2018.
