Ataribox Preorder Starting Tomorrow.
According to an E-Mail newsletter from Atari, the Ataribox Preorder will be starting on 14 December(tomorrow). Speculations are being made that the company will launch its crowdfunding Indiegogo campaign too.
Atari surprised everyone when they announced the Ataribox back at E3 and said that they are “back in hardware business”. After about a month we got a better look at the console when the company gave a brief description on the hardware loaded inside it and that the console will be available in two designs i.e: a classic wooden finish and a black design(which u can see in the image above). This retro style console is Atar’s first console after a very long time, probably the first one of this century.
Ataribox is loaded with a custom engineered AMD processor and will be running Linux OS giving its users a freedom of customizing the interface the means they need. Still, there’s no clue on what quite games the console would be running and because of that reason, I actually have a sense that the preorders will not go well for who will want to take the risk to preorder Ataribox when he doesn’t even know what will this console support. I hope they will also reveal some games to attract people and convince them to preorder the Ataribox. But according to Forbes, the Ataribox will come preloaded with a bunch of classic Atari games.
As already mentioned Ataribox preorder will take place on 14th December. There is also some real twist in the email. According to Cnet, people who signed up for Email alerts will “have a chance” of getting “extremely limited” offers. These offers will include special discount. Having a price tag of $249 to $299 the Ataribox is set to be shipped sometime in Spring 2018.
